Important Information

General Information
• Minimum hire period is 5 days.
• Minimum hire period is 10 days with a collection date of 23 Dec 09 - 10 Jan 10 or when a vehicle is being collected from the North Island and returned to the South Island from 1 Oct 09 - 31 Mar 10.
• Minimum rental periods are subject to change during peak periods.
• Minimum age for drivers is 21 years. Drivers aged 75 or over require a medical certificate stating they are fit to drive.
• A full driver’s licence is to be presented at the time of rental. For new style 2 part UK licences both the photocard and paper counterpart are required, but an older paper licence is sufficient with a form of photo identification such as a passport (if it is a foreign licence in a language other than English, then an international driving permit issued in the same country as the driver’s licence was issued is also required).
• Hire is calculated on a calendar day basis, i.e. no matter what time the vehicle is picked up or dropped off, this is calculated as one day’s hire. If your rental covers 2 or more seasons, each day’s cost is calculated according to the season in which that day falls.

Vehicle Collection & Return
• Branches in Auckland, Christchurch, Queenstown and Wellington.
• Branches are open daily from 8am to 5.30pm (5pm during winter in Queenstown).
• Closed Christmas Day.
• Clients collecting and returning need to be in the branch by 4pm.
• Free airport to branch transfer in Auckland and Christchurch. Queenstown branch is at the airport. Wellington branch is 40 mins from the airport and clients must make their own way to and from Wellington at their own expense.
• Vehicle collections or returns in Wellington and Queenstown incur a NZ $200 location fee. For same city collection and return only one fee applies.

Trailfinders Prices Include
• Unlimited kilometres (see Diesel Tax Recovery Fee).
• Goods and Services Tax.
• 24 hour nationwide road side assistance and freecall helpline.

Optional Extras
A number of additional products can be pre-booked at the time of reservation and then paid for locally including snow chains, portable heater, picnic table, picnic chairs, GPS, baby/booster seat, first aid kit, road atlas and pre-purchase gas option. Please ask your consultant for prices in local currency.

One Way Hires
One way hires are allowed between all branch locations. A fee of NZ $250 applies for rentals between the North Island and South Island and vice versa where pick-up is between 1 Oct 09 - 31 Mar 10.

Driving areas
Insurance is null and void if the vehicle is driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown), Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook) and the part of Bluff Road that runs between Kuatunu and Mataurangi and North of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula).

Ferry between North & South Islands
If you are hiring a motorhome for use on both the North and the South Island you will need to take it on the Cook Strait ferry. We strongly recommend that you book and pay for ferry reservations for both the vehicle and passengers in advance. Please ask your Trailfinders travel consultant for details.

Insurance/Excess & Excess Reduction Options
The vehicle is insured, however, an excess of NZ $7500 does apply. This is the maximum a renter is liable for in the event of loss or damage to the vehicle or third party, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

A Vehicle Security Deposit is required for the full amount of the excess and is held from pick up until the completion of the hire and can only be paid for by credit card. The credit card holder must be present and able to sign for the security deposit upon vehicle collection. A credit card surcharge applies to Visa/Mastercard credit card transactions (2%) and American Express (4.5%). This deposit is fully refundable if the conditions of the contract are met: vehicle must be undamaged; contents must be clean and in a reasonable condition; fuel tank must be full; gas bottle must be full; toilet and waste water must be empty and agreed drop off depot and time must be adhered to. If American Express is used for the deposit, the 4.5% surcharge is non-refundable - we recommend you not to use this type of card. Clients may reduce the level of excess and Vehicle Security Deposit by booking the Maui Premium Package or by taking out one of the following insurance policies at the start of the hire:

Excess Reduction Option 1 costs NZ $22/day to a maximum of NZ $1100 per rental and reduces the excess level to NZ $2500 but clients must still pay a reduced compulsory Vehicle Security Deposit of NZ $2500 (see above) debited to credit card.

Excess Reduction Option 2 costs NZ $40/day to a maximum of NZ $2000 per rental and reduces the excess level to nil but clients must still have a reduced compulsory Vehicle Security Deposit of NZ $220 (see above) authorised on a credit card. When purchasing this option an additional ‘No Worries Cover’ is also available for a one off fee of NZ $50 per hire which extends the cover for accidental damage to include the overhead and underbody sections of the motorhome.

With both Excess Reduction Option 1 and Option 2 the excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental. Trailfinders recommend you take the Maui Premium Package which gives you Excess Reduction Option 2 and “No Worries Cover” for just AUD $47 a day. This reduces the excess to Nil and allows you to travel with complete peace of mind. All you would pay locally is the compulsory Vehicle Security Deposit of NZ $220 which is authorized to a credit card and refunded completely if the vehicle is returned clean and undamaged.

Insurance Exceptions
Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle are not included unless ‘No Worries Cover’ or Maui Premium Package has been purchased. No vehicle may be driven off sealed roads. If any vehicle comes into contact with salt water, rivers or causeways all insurance policies become null and void and the hirer is responsible for total replacement of the vehicle. Cover is also null and void in the case of single vehicle rollovers and using the incorrect fuel.

Diesel Tax Recovery Fee
The Diesel Tax Recovery Fee will be calculated and collected on return of your vehicle and is based on the kilometres travelled during your hire. The vehicle rates per 100 kms are as follows:
Spirit 2 Berth (unleaded petrol): nil Spirit 4 Berth: NZ $4.70
Spirit 2 Berth (diesel): NZ $4.45 Spirit 6 Berth: NZ $4.85
Spirit 2 Berth T/S: NZ $4.70
Rates are subject to Government changes.

Campgrounds
There are lots of holiday parks throughout New Zealand offering motorhome sites. The holiday parks range from full facility sites where you link to mains water, electricity and drainage and which may have a swimming pool, general store or laundry to the more natural National or State Park campgrounds without these facilities. On collection of your vehicle from Maui you will receive a comprehensive booklet containing detailed information on where to stay, how to get there and what to see. You will also receive a free book of discount vouchers offering fantastic savings on a wide range of accommodation, tours and attractions all over the country! You may wish to pre-book some of the holiday parks and in peak season (Dec - Feb) it is essential - we suggest
you look at the website www.top10.co.nz.
