TERMS & CONDITIONS
Period of Rental
The start date determines the rental season. Prices are quoted per day and hire periods are calculated on a 24 hour basis, e.g. if a car is collected at 3pm on Monday for one week's hire, it must be returned the following Monday by 3pm.
Driving Licence
A valid drivers licence must be produced for all rentals.
Deposits
Deposits vary by destination. All clients must provide a valid credit card in the name of the driver as a form of deposit. Cash deposits are rarely accepted. A deposit is often payable for fuel and is usually refunded if the car is returned with a full tank. Please check the fuel policy when you pick up your car. Deposits against damage are required in some countries and a major credit card can be used for this purpose.
Driving Restrictions
Restrictions are applicable when crossing country/state borders. Please advise your travel consultant at the time of booking if you plan to drive out of the country/state of your vehicle collection point. Charges may apply locally for extra insurance.
Additional Drivers
Charges usually apply for additional drivers and are payable locally. Trailfinders cannot be held responsible for any increase in charges. Please check with your travel consultant at the time of booking.
Insurance Exclusions
Please note that in most destinations, damage to the tyres, windows, the roof, the underside, the interior, damage caused wilfully or through negligence and towing charges are not covered under the insurance policy. Insurance cover is not provided for the contents of the car in the event of theft. If keys are lost or damaged you will be liable for the cost of obtaining a replacement.
Rental Documents
The Trailfinders rental voucher must be presented when picking up your rental car. Trailfinders cannot be held responsible for rentals rejected if a voucher is not presented.
Provision of Cars
Please note that Hertz can refuse to provide a vehicle to any customer who is, in their opinion, unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances your contract with us will terminate and we will have no further liability to you.
Number of Passengers
Our rental cars are insured for a maximum number of passengers. Trailfinders cannot accept responsibility if the vehicle is not large enough to fit all passengers on arrival if details were not supplied at the time of booking.
Tax
All taxes are included except those on any extras purchased locally.
Car Type/Suitability
Trailfinders is unable to guarantee a particular make or model of car. The cars listed here and shown on your voucher are for guidance only and may be substituted for an alternative similar or upgraded car (at no extra cost). If you are dissatisfied in any way with the standard of the car you must advise the local Hertz agent immediately and Trailfinders within 90 days of your return. Trailfinders cannot accept liability where this procedure is not followed.
Mechanical difficulties/accidents
In the event of any mechanical difficulties or accidents involving your car you must call your local Hertz office immediately using the telephone number given on your rental agreement. Local police should be notified in the case of accidents and a signed police report obtained. Full details of third parties should also be obtained. You must also complete an accident form by the end of the rental period. Authority to repair or replace a vehicle must be given by your local Hertz office whose contact details are shown on your rental agreement. You should retain copies of all rental documentation in the event an insurance company is involved.
Complaints
If you have a problem with your car rental, please inform Hertz immediately so that they can endeavour to put things right. If they cannot resolve the problem, you must contact one of our Australian travel centres immediately by telephone or fax so that we are given the opportunity to help. In the unlikely event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you should write to us within 90 days of returning home, giving your original booking reference number and all other relevant information. If you fail to take any of these steps this will hinder our ability to put the problem right and/or investigate it fully and any right you may have to receive compensation will be reduced or completely extinguished. If there is a dispute between us that cannot be amicably settled it can, if you wish, be referred to arbitration under a special scheme which, although devised by arrangement with the Association Consumer Claims Tribunal having jurisdiction there of in NSW.
General Conditions
All bookings are subject to our terms and conditions. No other terms, conditions and warranties expressed or implied by law, custom and course of dealing shall form part of any contract between Trailfinders and our clients except for those terms implied by law whose application is mandatory. The client acknowledges that in making a booking with Trailfinders it does so only on the basis of the material contained in these pages. All other statements or representations made by Trailfinders, its employees or agents are of no effect unless confirmed by us to the client in writing. Hertz supply rental vehicles on behalf of Trailfinders and the rental of the vehicle will be subject to the law of the country in which it is supplied to you. For this reason you will be required to sign a rental agreement with Hertz. You should satisfy yourself that you understand and agree to its terms and conditions as you will be subject to, and must comply with, these terms and the local law. Trailfinders cannot accept liability for any charges incurred on documentation signed for and accepted locally. Trailfinders reserves the right to levy any government increase in local tax that may be introduced. Any additional charges payable on arrival are subject to local tax at the prevailing rate in that country.
